Our featured project: Content

"Content" is a short film primarily focused on the evolution of third spaces within our recent reality. The film follows a group of four friends who attempt to spend the day without access to their phones. These circumstances force them to not only find a place where they can simply be, pushing them to pull inspiration from small windows of their personal experience and the general past, but also to rebuild their ability to truly socialise and connect again.

This project uses the medium of narrative film as an investigative lens, immersing the viewer in the visible decline of physical third spaces and the resulting over-reliance on digital alternatives. Rather than artificially intruding on the spectator with overt messaging, the film uses generational relative lingo and authentic dialogue to create a world that feels fully realised and grounded. This naturalistic approach is supported by a deliberate variety of shot compositions and camera angles.

The making of "Content"

During production, we encountered a few challenges, including film equipment malfunctions like battery failures and syncing issues. This required our team to troubleshoot in real-time, often resulting in tighter filming windows. To keep spirits high and add a bit of fun to our days, we created vlogs throughout with both cast and crew.

Our inspiration and message

This project aims to spark a conversation about the decline of physical third spaces and the resulting isolation within current generations. We hope that after watching "Content," you will feel inspired to speak about the current state of third spaces and the state of our communities and connections with each other.
